Summer Festival Diaries 2009

Day 11 - Festival Life

Today Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso gave a commentary to the entire path of Vajrayogini.

With this simple yet profound practice we are able to create a beautiful and pure existence through training our mind.

Geshe-la explained that the main body of Varayogini practice is training in Clear Light of Bliss. The limbs of the practice are called the eleven yogas. In this context, yoga means training in spiritual paths, not physical exercise.

Geshe-la said we will be able to realise our very subtle mind by practising the first of the eleven yogas, the Yoga of Sleeping and training in central channel or tummo meditation. Geshe-la then shared with us the essential instructions for all eleven yogas so that we are equipped to create a pure mind and thereby experience a pure world.

Geshe-la emphasised the kindness of previous Lamas in preparing these instructions and revealed that he will never forget their kindness.

Venerable Geshe-la we will never forget your kindness.

Quick Path to Great Bliss and Meditation with Gen-la Kelsang Dekyong
National Spiritual Director of the United States, Gen-la Kelsang Dekyong guided a meditation within the Quick Path practice to help us deepen our faith in the power of Vajrayogini. Reminding us that the instructions were originally transmitted from Vajrayogini and realised in Venerable Geshe-la’s heart, the meditation inspired many Kadampas to sincerely rely on this powerful Tantric Deity.

Review with Gen Kelsang Tonglam
National Spiritual Director of Asia, Gen Kelsang Tonglam reviewed Venerable Geshe-la’s teaching from the morning and emphasised that the best way to repay the kindness of the lineage holders is to put the instructions into practise.

Quote of the day

If you realize your own mind you will become a Buddha.

Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.

When I engage in a retreat I feel a much stronger sense of being close to my Spiritual Guide.
