Children and young adults are welcome to attend the Festival, however for their safety and wellbeing some special conditions apply.

Anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by two nominated responsible adult carers over the age of 18. Those who are aged 16 and 17 year must be accompanied by an adult over 18.  You will be asked to provide the names of the carers/accompanying adult at the point of booking, and will be unable to complete the booking without it.

Festivals are large-scale public events and the care and safety of children and young adults remains at all times the responsibility of their parents/nominated carers/accompanying adult.  NKT-IKBU and the Festival Organisers for insurance purposes cannot take responsibility for children and young adults.

Festival Fees & Accommodation:

Discounts apply to children’s bookings.  Please see Spring Festival Fees for details.  More information about available accommodation for children can be found on the Accommodation page.

Under 16s cannot be accommodated in shared rooms or dormitory accommodation with adults who are not their parents/legal guardians, named nominated carer, or family members. Under 16s who are camping, must sleep in the same tent as their parent/legal guardian, nominated carer or an adult family member. Under 16s who are sharing a tent are free of charge.

16 & 17 year olds cannot be accommodated in shared room or dormitory accommodation. They may stay in twin accommodation if their nominated responsible adult is also sharing the room.  Camping in own tent is permitted.

Passes:

To help ensure the safety of your child, and so that they can be easily reunited with their carers in case of difficulties arising, under 16's passes will display photographs and names of their two nominated responsible adult carers. Under 16s bookings can only be confirmed when photographs have been received. Because these passes are prepared in advance, you must provide these prior to your arrival.

All under 18s are required to wear wristbands.

Teachings:

We regret that children under 3 are not allowed in the Temple or Marquee extensions during empowerments, teachings and meditation sessions. Any children who do attend teachings are not permitted to play electronic games. Children of all ages are welcome to attend puja.

During empowerments, teachings and meditation sessions, we provide a video link in a comfortable quiet area reserved for carers with children.

Stewarding will be provided in this area. If you are a parent with young children and would like to volunteer to help with Stewarding this area please contact  kids@kadampafestivals.org.

Parents are reminded that children (of all ages) must be under adult supervision at all times.

Family Activities:

A programme of volunteer led family activities is offered each day with a great selection of art and craft activities, games, drama, sing songs, and sporting activities for your children to enjoy.  The Kids Tent will run during 2nd sitting of lunch and supper each day (families are all dining during 1st sitting). There is also a dedicated space for a parent-supervised ball games and active play.

These activities are for parents to enjoy with their children.  It is important to note that this is not a childcare facility, and children remain the responsibility of, and should be supervised by their nominated carers at all times.
