What to Bring

British weather is famously unpredictable! In general you can expect average daily temperatures in May to be 17°C (63°F), with nighttime temperatures averaging 8°C (46°F).   Generally, you will find it helpful to bring warm clothes, waterproofs and a torch. If you are in a shared room or an indoor dormitory you will need to bring a sleeping bag and towel. If you are in a marquee dormitory or camping, please bring a warm sleeping bag, and any extra blankets you might need. Campers, please ensure that you check your camping equipment beforehand and make sure that you have all poles and pegs, and that your tent is waterproof. You will also need an insulated sleeping mat. Due to the large numbers attending the Festival, we are unable to provide extra blankets or sleeping bags.

Arrival & Registration

When you arrive to register you will be asked for your confirmation letter. If you do not have it with you, you will be asked to show some other form of photo identification, such as your passport, or driving license.

When you register on arrival, please be prepared to pay the full balance of your bill either in cash (pounds sterling), cheque (payable to NKT ), or credit/debit card. You can also pay in full through your online booking cart before you arrive. Please Note: We are unable to accept American Express, Diner’s Club, or JCB cards.

Campers are requested to register before erecting your tent and only camp in designated areas.

Please note, to comply with fire safety regulations, no naked flames of any kind (e.g. candles, gas cookers or gas lighting) will be permitted anywhere on the campsite.

General Guidelines

During your visit to Manjushri KMC you are requested to please refrain from smoking (incl. electronic cigarettes), taking intoxicants and drinking alcohol in the building and in the grounds.

For fire safety, please also refrain from lighting incense or candles either indoors or in the campsite.

Playing Music

The Festivals are a time of peace, quiet and reflection. It is for this reason that we ask you not to bring musical instruments of any kind to the Festival, and to use headphones if listening to music.

Car Parking

If you booked a car parking voucher, you will receive it with your confirmation letter. Please have it available to show to the car park attendant on your arrival. Car parking permits must displayed in your car throughout your stay.

Pets

Please note that it is not possible to bring pets to the Festival. Dogs are not permitted on the campsite, nor to be left in cars in the car park.

Security

All participants will be required to wear a Festival Pass at all times. Please co-operate fully with this requirement for the sake of the safety and smooth running of the Festival. Please note that the Festival Management cannot accept responsibility for any loss or damage to personal items or cars parked on or off the property. Please bring essential items only and carry valuables with you.

Volunteering

The entire Festival is organised and run by volunteers. There are many opportunities and ways in which you can help, such as preparing food, serving, clearing, dish-washing, cleaning, setting up, cafes etc. It is a wonderful way to meet with other Kadampas from around the world – your contribution of time and energy is an important part of making the whole thing happen.

To find out how you can get involved, please see the volunteering page.

Photography

Flash photography, video or audio recording are not permitted in the Temple.
