Accommodation

On-site Accomodation

Staying on-site gives us the full experience of our International Festival, and many opportunities to meet and share experiences with our Kadampa family from around the world.

In addition to Manjushri KMC’s guest accommodation, many of the residential community vacate their rooms so that they can be offered to guests.  For this reason, there are a limited number of single and twin/double rooms available pre & post Festival. If your chosen pre/post Festival accommodation option is not available, we will offer an alternative.

Onsite accommodation is in high demand.  In order to be able to offer accommodation to those on the waiting list who otherwise might not be able to attend, full payment is required by July 20 for all onsite accommodation with the exception of camping in own tent or own camper van (ie. all single, twin/double, shared room, indoor dorm, marquee dorm, and pre-erected tent bookings).  This is non-refundable unless we are able to re-sell your room. See Terms & Conditions for deposit and cancellation terms.

On-site Accommodation

Indoor Accommodation Options:

When booking for a twin or double room, only one person should book the room. The room-mate should also make a Festival booking but select the accommodation option 'sharing a twin/double room'. Both the person booking the room, and the room-mate, will be required to indicate on the booking form who they will be sharing with.

A limited number of the above rooms are available with ensuite bathrooms.
All linen and towels are provided.

Shared rooms* 4-7 beds (may incl. bunk beds)
Indoor dormitories 8+ beds (usually bunk beds)

Please bring a sleeping bag and towel.
Bottom sheet, pillowcase and a blanket are provided.

*These accommodation types very limited please book early. You are advised to try to book at the date/time that booking opens.  If when making your initial booking your preferred accommodation option is sold out, please contact Festival Registration and request to be put on a waiting list in case of cancellations.

Outdoor Accommodation Options:

Marquee dormitories Cot beds are provided with pillow and blanket in a marquee tent.

Please bring warm sleeping bag and extra blankets if needed. For safety reasons, these are unheated overnight.

Pre-erected Tent Already set up tent, includes foam mattress, pillow & blanket.

Camping (in own tent) Camping spaces available in designated areas of the woods. Ensure your tent is waterproof and that you bring all equipment. Eg.Groundsheet, insulated sleeping mat, warm sleeping bag, blankets etc.
Camper Van Limited spaces available for those bringing their own camper van. Must be booked for whole of week 1 or whole of week 2

Children's Onsite Accommodation:

We regret we are unable to accommodate children under 16 in shared rooms or dormitory accommodation.

Children aged 4 and over who are occupying a bed/space in a twin or double room will be charged at full adult rate.  Children aged 3 and under sharing their parent’s bed are free of charge.

Children aged 15 and under who are camping (in parents own tent) are free of charge. It is not permitted for those under 16 to sleep in their own tent, but must share with an adult family member/nominated carer.

In general, children aged 3 or under who are camping (in a ready-erected tent) are free of charge and children aged 4 and over will be counted as a paying person. Children aged 3 or under who are camping (in a ready-erected tent) are free of charge if they do not take up an additional person space. Eg. 2 person tent = 2 paying people + child.

Young Adults (16 & 17 year olds) 

Young Adults cannot be accommodated in shared accommodation with adults other than their parents/legal guardians or family members. 16 and 17 year olds are charged as adults.

A limited number of rooms will be available to book for whole of week 1 or whole of week 2, otherwise must be booked for the whole Festival.

Accommodation in the surrounding area is in high demand during the Summer months and books up several months in advance. In order to ensure accommodation is available for the Festival we have secured some group reservations. These can be booked through the Festival booking system.

Due to the high demand for accommodation locally, our group contracts have strict deposit and cancellation terms. Please ensure that you read the deposit/cancellation terms carefully. You are advised to take travel insurance out for your trip in case of cancelled non-refundable accommodation.

Accommodation in Ulverston

Premier Inn

Only 2.3 miles (3.7km) from Manjushri KMC, this brand new hotel is only an 8 minute drive or 45 minute walk away. It has easy access to local amenities, with a supermarket and 24 hour petrol station only 5 minutes walk away. and only a 10 minute walk from Ulverston town centre.

Regular festival shuttles will be available in the morning and evening.

  • Price: £100 per night (single or double occupancy)
  • Price is for room only.
  • Must be booked for whole of week 1, whole of week 2, or both weeks.
  • Kingsize beds in all rooms (single or double occupancy)
  • Maximum 2 adults per room

  • Hotel is on 2 floors serviced by a lift.
  • Breakfast is not included. Breakfast can be booked on arrival directly with the hotel; continental breakfast £6.99/ full cooked breakfast £8.99

  • Free wifi (super-fast wifi is available for an additional charge – booked directly with the hotel).

Deposit and Cancellation Terms
This hotel is in high demand. Due to contractual obligations, the following deposit and cancellation terms apply:

  • Reservation is per room.
  • The person booking is responsible for the full payment and for finding their own room-mates
  • 50% deposit due on booking refundable up to 20 June.
  • full payment due by 6 July– non-refundable after that date unless we are able to re-sell room.

***Failure to pay the deposit or balance payment by the dates indicated above will lead to the cancellation of your hotel booking. Due to the terms of our contract, there is no flexibility on this. Should we have to cancel your hotel booking due to nonpayment, any subsequent booking will be subject to availability and will be charged at the prevailing room rates and not at the special Festival rate.***

Accommodation in Barrow in Furness

A popular budget hotel,  its central location gives easy access to local shops, restaurants and supermarkets.

  • Note: this hotel does not have a lift.  Accommodation is over three floors.
  • Single, and Twin rooms available (all ensuite)
  • Breakfast included (cooked or continental, incl. some dairy free and wheat free options)
  • Adjoining Italian restaurant and Pizzeria open to 10pm each night
  • Children up to 8 years old can be accommodated in additional foldaway beds. 8 years old and over are charged as adult.
  • Free wifi
  • Daily shuttles available to/from the Festival site – must be booked separately
  • The hotel has a small free car park on first come basis. Otherwise, free overnight parking available (18:00 – 08:00) in public car park behind the hotel.

Deposit and Cancellation Terms

Due to contractual obligations, the following deposit and cancellation terms apply:

  • Reservation is per room.The person booking is responsible for the full payment and for finding their own room-mates
  • 25% deposit due on booking refundable up to 20 June.
  • full payment due 14 July– non-refundable after that date unless we are able to re-sell room. If full payment not received by this date, your reservation will be cancelled.
  • Prices: Single: £50 / Double or Twin (per room) £65

Failure to pay the deposit or balance payment by the dates indicated above will lead to the cancellation of your hotel booking. Due to the terms of our contract, there is no flexibility on this. Should we have to cancel your hotel booking due to nonpayment, any subsequent booking will be subject to availability and will be charged at the prevailing room rates and not at the special Festival rate.

 

Off-Site Accommodation Transport:
For those staying in Festival off-site accommodation we also offer daily shuttle buses to/from the Festival site each morning and evening. Priority for shuttle bus spaces is given to those staying in official Festival offsite accommodation. Shuttle buses will arrive onsite approx. 8.30am. There are two opportunities to return in the evening; after supper and after puja/final retreat session.

**Due to the number of coaches arriving each day, for safety reasons, all coaches from off-site accommodation will arrive approx. 8.30am. There will be no second trip in the morning**

Shuttle buses are not included in your accommodation reservation and must be booked separately. Everyone who requires a seat on the shuttle bus must book separately.  Children are not allowed to sit on parent's knees, and must occupy their own seat.  Young children must be in travel seats (not provided by the bus company). 

Those wishing to bring their own car to Manjushri KMC must book a parking permit.
