Day One Teaching

Faith – The Root of Spiritual Realizations

On the first day of the Festival, Venerable Geshe-la gave a clear presentation of Buddhist faith, aim and path. He explained how these teachings are not given for intellectual understanding, but for changing our mind from ignorance to wisdom, from selfish intention to compassion.

Quote of the day

In his teaching called King of Concentration Sutra Buddha said:

A Magician creates various things
Such as horses, elephants and so forth;
His creations do not actually exist.
You should know all things in the same way.

This teaching alone has the power to liberate all living beings from their suffering permanently. Through practicing and gaining the realizations of this teaching we can permanently cease the root of all our sufferings, our ignorance of self-grasping. When this happens we will experience the supreme permanent inner peace known as nirvana. We will have attained permanent liberation from suffering and the ultimate goal of human life. This is the main function of Buddha’s teachings..

A Meaningful Holiday

Being at a Festival gives me a chance to make new friends and see old friends. And it is fun to volunteer and see people so happily working and cherishing others.
- Katrina, Canada

We have had such a warm welcome here at EuroDisney and the French sangha have worked so hard to make this all possible. The Festival shows that anything is possible with the blessings of the Dharma Protector.
