General Information
General Information
INFO DESK
Is located in the main building, just inside the main entrance. Visit the info desk for all general enquiries and to report any maintenance, household, or security concerns. Open 8.15am to 10pm daily (closed during Temple session times).
ASSISTED NEEDS
If you have notified us in advance of your assisted needs, we have tried our best to accommodate them wherever possible. If you require further assistance, please go to the info desk.
FIRST AID
First Aid Room is located in the front circle (see festival map for location).
During the night, you can contact first aid in a number of ways:
- via the night warden on the first floor of the main building (top of the main stairs to the right and through the glass doors)
- security person based in the Temple
- go directly to the First Aid Room (see map) and ring the door bell
LOST PROPERTY & UNATTENDED BAGS
Lost property is located next to the luggage tent in the front circle. All unattended bags will be taken to the luggage tent. Note, we cannot accept responsibility for any loss or damage to visitor’s property.
PARKING
All cars parked onsite must display a valid Festival Parking Permit. All standard parking is in the field carpark with the exception of vans/campervans and pre-booked disabled parking (limited spaces). No vans are allowed in the field. Upon arrival, please follow the directions of the car parking stewards.
TAXI DROP OFF/PICK UP
Is in the front circle. For the smooth and safe movement of vehicles and people, please follow the directions of the festival marshalls when being picked-up / dropped off.
QUIET ZONE
There is a quiet zone in the tent opposite the World Peace Cafe that is a dedicated space for people who need somewhere to be quiet away from the crowds. Please respect this space and follow the guidelines posted in the tent.
MUSIC
To avoid disturbing others, musical instruments are not permitted. Please use headphones if listening to music.
QUIET TIME
After 10.30pm please be mindful that people are trying to sleep. Please be as quiet as possible near accommodation areas including the campsite, and be aware that sound travels.
Safety & Security
FIRE SAFETY
If you discover a fire, sound the alarm immediately. If you hear the fire alarm, proceed immediately to the Fire Assembly Point in the Field Car Park (Day) or Temple (night). Please follow the instructions of the Festival Marshalls and Fire Wardens.
Important: please read fire procedures and assembly instructions posted throughout the buildings, especially in your accommodation. Familiarise yourself with your nearest fire exit.
No naked flames. Do not burn candles or incense, or use portable cooking equipment anywhere onsite. No smoking (including e-cigarettes) or intoxicants allowed onsite.
ELECTRICAL FIRE HAZARD
Faulty electrical appliances increase the risk of fire, for this reason a mobile charging station is provided in the covered seating area on the front circle. Electronic devices should not be charged elsewhere, any devices which are found charging in other public spaces will be removed for safety reasons. Use of personal electrical appliances such as kettles and irons is not permitted.
DANGER IN THE BAY
When visiting the beach do not walk on the sands. Due to fast tides, quicksand, and deep channels, lives have been lost. The beach is closed from 10.30pm.
WOODLAND SAFETY
Due to ongoing woodland management, please only camp in the designated areas. If you camp outside of these, for your own safety, you will be asked to move your tent.
VALUABLES & UNATTENDED LUGGAGE
Please do not leave any item of luggage unattended. Unattended bags should be reported immediately to the Info Desk. All unattended bags will be removed. Please look after your valuables at all times, and do not leave any valuables in your tent or marquee dormitory.
BARRIER
There will be a checkpoint at the barrier on the main drive from Friday 23 May. To prevent delays please show your pass when you arrive on-site. Only vehicles displaying an MKMC resident, disabled parking or van/campervan permit will be allowed beyond the barrier.
CYCLIST SAFETY
The main road as you exit Manjushri Centre is busy with fast moving traffic. Please be aware and, especially when riding at night, use a headlight and reflective safety gear. Accidents have happened on this road.
In the Temple
ALL SESSIONS WILL BE HELD AT THE TEMPLE
For the empowerment, the Temple doors will open 30 minutes before the start of the session to enable everyone to be seated. Please follow the guidance of the Temple stewards when taking your seat.
For all other sessions, please arrive at least 10 minutes before the scheduled start time.
You will need to show your pass each time you enter the Temple.
Taking photos, videos or audio recordings during sessions is not permitted, however, you are welcome to do so outside of session times.
During sessions, please ensure your phone is off or on silent mode.
For fire and health & safety reasons, large bags are not permitted in the Temple - please leave them in the luggage tent.
TRANSLATION / ASSISTED LISTENING
Please only sit in this section of the Temple if you have pre-booked translation.
VIDEO LINKS
A Family Video Link is in the Lounge cafe in the main building and is for children and nominated care givers only.
A Quiet Zone Video Link is provided in the tent opposite the World Peace Cafe. This space is specifically for those people in need of a less-stimulating sensory environment. Please respect the guidelines signed within this tent.
CHILDREN
Children 3 years and under are not permitted in the Temple during meditation, teaching or retreat sessions. They are welcome to attend pujas. A video link for children and nominated carers is provided - please see Families section for more information.

Families
REGISTRATION
There is a dedicated registration team to assist families, you will be directed to them upon arrival at registration. They will orient you on the Festival site, family/children facilities, and health & safety.
FAMILY ACTIVITIES
The Kids Tent activities run during the 2nd sitting of lunch and supper each day. There is also a dedicated space for parent-supervised ball games and active play.
Activities are for parents to enjoy with their children, they are not a childcare facility. Volunteers leading the activities are unable to take responsibility for unaccompanied children. Children remain the responsibility of, and must be supervised by, their nominated carers at all times.

FAMILY CAMPING
The woodland area adjacent to the Kids Tent is reserved for families. Where possible, spaces have been pre-allocated. Please do not pitch your tent until you have been allocated your space.
DINING
Families who have booked the Festival meals in the main dining tent will be allocated to 1st sitting. There is a designated family seating area in the tent.
GENERAL SAFETY
Although it is easy to feel safe, Festivals are public events and this is a large and open site. Children must always remain the responsibility of their parents/nominated carers, and be under their supervision at all times.
TEMPLE & FAMILY VIDEO LINK
Children of all ages are welcome to attend pujas in the Temple. Children aged 3 years and under are not permitted in the Temple for teaching, meditation, or retreat sessions. However, there is designated family video link in the Lounge cafe in the main building.
Environment
ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS
Please be mindful of resources to help the planet and save money for the International Temples Project.
WATER
To allow everyone access to a shower, please keep your shower short. Do not leave taps running when cleaning your teeth, or at any other time.
ELECTRIC / FIRE HAZARD
Please be mindful about turning lights off if you are the last one to leave the room.

RECYCLING
There are designated bins around the site for plastic bottles, glass bottles and metal can recycling. All the disposables used in the dining tent, take-away kitchen, and cafes are made from either compostable or degradable materials.
Volunteering
Kadampa Festivals are unique volunteer-led events. Every aspect of the Festival is run entirely by volunteers – and more help is always needed. There are tasks to suit all abilities.
Our volunteer co-ordinators help keep the Festival running smoothly by matching volunteers with teams-in-need on a daily basis. The volunteering desk is in the main corridor opposite the info desk. Check out the white board there for a list of the priority tasks – if you have some time to spare, either as a one-off or on a regular basis, our volunteer co-ordinators will be happy to match you with a suitable task.

Accommodation & Transport
ACCOMMODATION
If you have any queries about your accommodation please go to Festival Registration in the Chapel. See Festival Timetable for opening times.
CAMPING
Due to active woodland management, you must only camp in one of the designated areas indicated on the map and marked out in the woodlands. if you camp outside of these areas, for your own safety, you will be asked to move your tent.
There is an emergency shelter (11pm - 7am) which is located in the Kids Tent (see map).

AIRPORT SHUTTLES
Airport Shuttles depart from the front circle. To ensure they depart on time, please arrive 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time to allow for loading luggage. Festival Marshalls will facilitate luggage storage and boarding, please follow their guidance.

CAFÉS
WORLD PEACE CAFE - Sells espresso drinks, teas, hot chocolate, and a large selection of delicious cakes and traybake including vegan and gluten-free* options. Open for breakfast from 7am daily.
COFFEE-TO-GO - For a quick drink and sweet or savoury snack. Serving coffee, teas, hot chocolate, pastries, donuts, muffins, samosas and Cornish pasties and vegan sausage rolls.
LOUNGE CAFE - The place to go for a variety of vegan and gluten-free treats including superfood salads, sausage rolls and cakes as well as teas and espresso drinks.
JUICE BAR - A healthy boost, whatever the weather! Enjoy a hot spiced apple juice loaded up with fresh ginger, or a healthy fruit smoothie.
BURGER BAR - The place to go in the evenings after puja for a delicious veggie burger and chips.

THARPA & GIFT SHOP - is located just inside the main entrance to the Priory building.
The Tharpa Publications shop stocks the complete range of Venerable Geshe-la’s books available in English, as well as a wide selection of books in other languages. You will also find prayer booklets, audio books and artwork. A Tharpa Publications representative is available to answer any questions.
The Gift Shop stocks a range of unique gift and ritual items, Kadampa statues for personal shrines, beautiful handmade items, gifts, and much more.
TUCKSHOP - Located in a tent in the front circle (see map), it sells tsog offerings, snacks, cold drinks and ice cream. Gluten-free and vegan options are available. Basic toiletries, over the counter medications, and earplugs are also available.
