Summer Festival Diaries 2009

Day 1 - A Meaningful Holiday

The largest gathering of Kadampas assembled at Manjushri Kadampa Meditation Centre, UK, today for the start of the 2009 NKT international Summer Festival.

People who have been to a Kadampa Festival know that extraordinary things happen at these special events. And their first Festival at Manjushri KMC is unforgettable.

It is the culmination of teachings directly from Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, good company of international Kadampas and the first sight of the Kadampa Temple which has a beautiful effect on the mind.

Kadampa Festivals power people along the spiritual path until the final destination is reached; permanent inner peace, full enlightenment.

Join us on a magical journey of the 2009 NKT international Summer Festival at Manjushri Kadampa Meditation Centre as a day-to-day diary is revealed.

Everyone Welcome!

Today's Teaching
In the introduction to the 2009 NKT international Summer Festival, Deputy Spiritual Director of the NKT, Gen-la Khyenrab welcomed everyone and impressed upon us that the practice of Dharma begins with listening.

Gen-la said that it is through Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s kindness that we are able to listen to, study and practise Dharma thereby taking the essence of our human life.

Quote of the day

The Buddha Dharma is the supreme medicine that relieves all mental pain so may this precious Dharma Jewel pervade all worlds throughout space.

Essence of Good Fortune, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.

What does the Summer Festival mean to you?

Festivals are important to me because it becomes clear that we can do it - that we can create a peaceful world.
