Summer Festival 2008 ~ July 25 - August 9
Empowerment of Thousand-armed Avalokiteshvara and Teachings on Universal Compassion
The 2008 Summer Festival will be held at Manjushri KMC England, July 25 – August 9.
The Summer Festival is a special spiritual holiday when we receive extensive teachings from Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.
During this, the seventeenth, Summer Festival, Venerable Geshe Kelsang will grant the empowerment of Thousand-armed Avalokiteshvara, the Buddha of Compassion, and give teachings based on Universal Compassion, his commentary to the famous text on training the mind in love and compassion, Training the Mind in Seven Points.
The empowerment and teachings are open to everyone.
Venerable Geshe Kelsang will grant the Avalokiteshvara empowerment on Saturday July 26th and then give three days of teachings on Universal Compassion.
This will be followed by a three-day meditation retreat based on these teachings.
During the second week, teachings on Universal Compassion will continue for four days starting Sunday August 3rd, and this will be followed by a two-day meditation retreat.
Saturday August 2nd is a free day giving an opportunity to explore the local Lake District countryside, or simply relax. Coach trips are arranged for overseas visitors, which include a short walk, a picnic lunch and a boat trip.
