Post Festival Retreats
The three International Festivals are precious opportunities to receive teachings and empowerments from the Gen-las, and this experience is greatly enhanced if we can spend some time after the Festival in retreat improving our understanding of the teachings and taking their meaning to heart.
Post-festival retreats are organised by Kadampa centers around the world after each of the three International Festivals. See below for details of retreats following the 2020 Summer Festival.
Aug 9 – 15
Training in the two Bodhichittas – The Extraordinary Practice of Exchanging Self with Others
with Kadam Morten Clausen, Eastern US National Spiritual Director and Resident Teacher at the Kadampa Meditation Center New York City.
Practical meditations from the Kadam Lojong tradition that are powerful, simple and life-changing. The emphasis of this retreat is on training in equaling and exchanging the self with others — a particularly powerful method for nurturing our pure, loving heart. Bodhichitta — the actual path to the peace of enlightenment — is the natural result of this training.

The Joy of Kadampa Life
With Gen Kelsang Chokyan, Resident Teacher of KMC New Mexico
In this weekend retreat, Gen Chokyan will review and guide meditations based on the teachings from the NKT-IKBU International Festival. The two topics that will be covered are “The Buddhist Way of Loving Kindness” and “Essential Advice from the Heart”. This is a great opportunity to take these practices deeper into the heart for those who attended the Festival.
Aug 9 – 16
Come Closer to Tara and Practice from the Heart – Taught in Spanish
with Gen Kelsang Chokga, Principal Teacher at Kadampa Meditation Centre Spain
Based on teachings from the Summer Festival at Manjushri KMC, Gen Chokga will be guiding this retreat, a wonderful opportunity to take the teachings from the festival to heart and to deepen our understanding and familiarity with the practices of green Tara.
Aug 9 – 14
The Buddhist Way of Loving Kindness
with Gen Kelsang Rabten, National Spiritual Director for Kadampa Buddhism in Australia, New Zealand, and South East Asia.
Following on from the International Summer Festival at Manjushri KMC, UK, Gen Kelsang Rabten will lead a retreat based on the teachings and commentaries received at the Festival. This will be a wonderful opportunity to take teachings from the Festival to heart and deepen our understanding and familiarity with the practice in the beautiful and blessed environment of Madhyamaka KMC.
Aug 22 – 23
In this retreat, we will review and deepen the essential teachings of the Advice from Atisha’s Heart given in the Summer Festival. This sublime advice encapsulates the way of life of the early Kadampa practitioners, whose example of purity and sincerity we should all try to emulate. This heartfelt and practical guidance helps us transform our ordinary daily life into a joyful path to deep inner peace for our own and others’ benefit.

The Buddha’s Way of Loving Kindness
Attend the Centre or by Live stream with Gen Kelsang Devi, the Principal Teacher at Kailash International Retreat Centre and Kadampa Meditation Centre Zurich
Gen Kelsang Devi will lead a retreat based on the teachings and commentaries received at the Summer Festival. Through bringing our dharma understanding into our hearts in meditation we can transform our ordinary life into a joyful path to deep inner peace for our own and others’ benefit. This is a wonderful opportunity to deepen our understanding of the teachings and to receive guidance from a qualified and experienced teacher.
